Access Bank Botswana Named Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility at 2026 Euromoney Awards.

Gaborone, Botswana, July 2026 – Access Bank Botswana Limited has been named Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility in Botswana at the 2026 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, recognizing the Bank’s commitment to improving lives, strengthening communities and advancing responsible banking across the country.

This recognition reflects a practical approach to corporate responsibility built around community impact, employee participation, financial inclusion, education, health and environmental sustainability.

Across Botswana, Access Bank employees have contributed their time, professional skills and personal commitment to initiatives addressing needs within the communities where the Bank operates. These have included support for national disaster-recovery efforts, financial-literacy programmes, health interventions, school infrastructure, environmental clean-ups and assistance for vulnerable groups.

Among the Bank’s recent initiatives was a BWP250,000 contribution to national disaster-recovery efforts following heavy rainfall, supporting approximately 10,000 people across the country. Employees also participated in a nationwide World Cleanup Day campaign in partnership with local councils, while other teams supported schools, healthcare facilities and community organizations.

The Bank’s employee-led programmes have also included blood-donation drives conducted with the Botswana the National Blood Transfusion Service, which collected 63 units of blood, as well as initiatives supporting financial literacy, inclusive education and improved learning environments for young people.

These interventions demonstrate how Access Bank Botswana is translating corporate responsibility from an institutional commitment to visible outcomes for people and communities.

Commenting on the award, Sheperd Aisam, Managing Director of Access Bank Botswana said: “Being recognized by Euromoney as Botswana’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility reflects our commitment to creating meaningful and sustainable impact in the communities we serve. This is a proud moment for our employees and stakeholders, but above all, it is a recognition we share with every Motswana who has trusted us, worked with us and welcomed us into their community. We do not take that trust for granted.”

“Our responsibility is to continue listening, learning and responding to the needs around us. That requires agility, creativity and the confidence to approach challenges differently. It also requires us to remain accountable for the difference our actions make.”

Aisam also recognized Access Bank Botswana employees whose participation in the Bank’s Employee Volunteering Programme has helped turn its corporate responsibility commitments into practical action.

“This award belongs in a very real way to our employees. They have given their time, skills and energy to support causes that matter. I encourage them to keep going, because this recognition is not the conclusion of the work. It is a reminder of the responsibility ahead of us.”

The award reinforces Access Bank Botswana’s commitment to four interconnected priorities: community impact, environmental sustainability, financial inclusion and employee engagement.

It also contributes to Access Bank Group’s wider recognition at the 2026 Euromoney Awards for Excellence and reflects the Group’s ambition to build a financial ecosystem that creates value not only for customers and shareholders, but also for the societies in which it operates.

For Access Bank Botswana, the recognition provides further momentum to deepen partnerships with communities, government institutions, schools, civil-society organizations and other stakeholders, but more than anything, it reaffirms our commitment to driving sustainable impact across Botswana and Africa.

This recognition is shared with the customers, communities, partners and employees behind the work that matters.

END.
